U.S. Soccer's free online module and the first step of its coaching license pathway. It is required before any Grassroots course, online or in person, and every route to the D License starts with it.
One course for each game format. Each is a two-hour module on U.S. Soccer's coaching approach, its Play-Practice-Play method and the age group it covers, plus a 90-minute SafeSport module (not required under 18) and a module on safe playing environments, all finished within 12 months of registering. The usual route to the D License includes one online course. CJSA's 2026 list has no in-person 4v4 course.
For coaches of U9 and U10 players, who play 7v7. It builds on the Introduction with U.S. Soccer's coaching approach, the Play-Practice-Play method and the six tasks of a coach, and ends with a field session where coaches take part as coaches or players.
For coaches of U11 and U12 players, who play 9v9. It builds on the Introduction with U.S. Soccer's coaching approach, the Play-Practice-Play method and the six tasks of a coach, and ends with a field session where coaches take part as coaches or players.
No course page: CJSA listed the course, but its page on the U.S. Soccer Learning Center no longer exists, so whether it ran is not known.
For coaches of teams that play 11v11, from U13 up; the course covers players U13 to U15.
The first U.S. Soccer license above the Grassroots courses, focused on U7 to U12 teams playing 7v7 and 9v9. It covers building a safe, welcoming team environment, planning and running training sessions, and running game days. The in-person weekends mix classroom and field sessions, and coaches need access to a U7 to U12 team for the whole course.
The license after the D, for coaches of 11v11 teams. CJSA's 2026 list has no C License course, and the U.S. Soccer Learning Center showed none open in Connecticut on Oct 18, 2026. The format and requirements here come from other U.S. Soccer state associations' 2026 C courses.
For coaches working with teams U13 and older in a performance environment. Coaches apply to take it. The 2026 course in Connecticut, hosted by US Club Soccer and CJSA, met online on Wednesdays and in person at Farmington Sports Arena on March 2 to 5 and May 4 to 7.
Course dates and towns come from CJSA (cjsa.org/coaching) and the U.S. Soccer Learning Center (learning.ussoccer.com), where registration for every course happens. CT Soccer doesn't handle coaching registrations.
